Carolyn Vincent Ethridge, 80, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 at her residence. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday at Elam Baptist Church, Jones County with burial in James Cemetery. Pastor Gary Thomas will officiate. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. to service time on Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Ethridge, daughter of the late Bennett A. and Belle Reynolds Vincent, was a lifelong resident of Jones County. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the Macon Hospital School of Nursing and Mercer University and used her nursing skills to care for several terminally ill friends in the community. Mrs. Ethridge was a member of Elam Baptist Church where she kept the Nursery for thirty-five years, as well as teaching in Vacation Bible School.

Her kind heart was apparent to all who knew her. She would be sitting among strangers and they would share the most intimate detail of their lives with her as she listened patiently and offer comfort. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Vincent and her son-in-law, Terry Ware. Married to her sweetheart since September 15, 1956, her most treasured hours were spent with him and their family.

She is survived by those who loved her most, her husband, Charles W. Ethridge, Sr.; her children, Cheryl Ware and Billy Ethridge; her sister, Barbara Ann Layman; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
